The Scope of Security is Changing
With the changing state of things, such as the economy, focus is being shifted toward security that, while necesary, might be better utilized if not so reliant on means as we have known them for years. Take, for instance, POTS, or Plain Old Telephone Lines. Telephone wires are rapidly becoming obsolete, with phone companies installing fiber, and removing copper.
Formerly, many local alarms relied on copper phone lines over which voltages might be transmitted to the local police station. With copper coming out anf fiber going in, this means of communications becomes impossible to happen. Monitoring via the Internet, and Cellular becomes necessary.
Many businesses are getting away from traditional telephone lines, and obtaining phone service from cable operators, via VOIP - Voice Over Internet Protocol. VOIP allows for multiple phone numbers to be in use over just one internet connection. The drawback, for alarm owners, is that during a power outage, the Internet modem will not function, and thus phone service will be out. Cellular is the answer. And like telephone lines, Internet lines may also be cut by an intruder. Cellular is the answer.
